US Central Command said the USS George Washington reached the Arabian Sea on Wednesday as part of a scheduled deployment and is expected to replace the USS Abraham Lincoln. Al Jazeera reported the Lincoln is returning to the United States after a prolonged Iran war deployment marked by supply problems and crew welfare concerns. A CENTCOM spokesperson also said the US military had facilitated passage for 1,300 ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

Middle East Spectator cited a NATO statement saying the alliance is prepared to deal with threats against member states and that NATO air defenses have intercepted Iranian ballistic missiles headed toward Turkey on four previous occasions. Al Jazeera live coverage said Trump stated Washington may resume talks with Tehran at some point, while keeping US demands focused on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. The remark came as he also announced a new round of economic pressure after talks failed to produce a deal.

In the same Truth Social post, Trump warned that any country allowing banks, businesses, airports or government entities to provide a lifeline to Iran would face tremendous economic consequences. He named oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries and front companies as targets and called for allies to isolate Iran.
