CENTCOM chief praises USS Abraham Lincoln crew after mental-health reports

CENTCOM commander Adm. Brad Cooper visited the USS Abraham Lincoln and called the crew "awe-inspiring," saying in a statement shared on X that the carrier has among the lowest mental-health case counts of the Navy's 11 active carriers while acknowledging long sea duty is hard. Al Jazeera notes lawmakers raised alarm after reports of sailors trying to jump overboard during a deployment of more than 250 days without a port call as the ship supports the war on Iran. The report says the USS George Washington is being redeployed from near Japan to replace the Lincoln; President Trump on Friday said the Lincoln had not been deployed "nearly long enough."

US-Iran June MoU reaches 60-day end with no extension announced

Al Jazeera reports the June 17 memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran is set to expire Monday after a 60-day window for a final deal, with little public sign either side will extend it. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Saturday Iran has not yet decided whether to restart talks with the United States, while mediators from Qatar and Pakistan continue contacts and Iran works with Oman on Hormuz shipping routes tied to a political settlement. Both sides have for weeks accused the other of violating the MoU after early disputes over whether it was a ceasefire or a permanent end to fighting.
