Qatar denies holding three Iranian Su-24 pilots from March Doha raid
Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said Doha categorically denies Iranian claims that three Su-24 pilots are in secret detention, calling the statements misleading. Iran's Gen. Mohammad Bagherzadeh told the ICRC that Javad Salehi, Abdul Majid Dashtian, and Omran Behrushian were captured after ejecting during a 2 March 2026 mission and have been held without family contact. Qatar says it engaged aircraft that breached its airspace, recovered the remains of a fourth pilot, Majid Kazemi, and invited an Iranian team to review search and rescue details, with no response yet from Tehran.
